Objectives of the Workshop:

The key objective of the workshop was to identify what are the unmet research needs and priority R&D interests in this targeted field. STCU hopes the workshop will help create the basis for one future STCU Call for Research Proposals that target urgent R&D objectives in the area. The questions that the workshop did address include:

(i) - What are the R&D areas of highest interest in the area? Where are the world's leading experts targeting their research efforts? What are the international priority needs/problems within this field? What are the current priorities for the regions and countries that are within the STCU membership?
(ii) - What is the current level of R&D capability within the STCU Recipient Parties in this area? What R&D programmatic efforts are being undertaken by the Recipients in this field, and which organizations are sponsoring these efforts?
(iii) - What R&D priorities could be addressed through STCU-sponsored projects or programs? What other organizations or groups working in this field might be interested in participating (including financial contributions) in an STCU targeted research program?
