STCU Attends Nuclear Forensics Workshop in
Karlsruhe, Germany
On 2-4 December, STCU
participated in a workshop on "Nuclear Forensics and Law
Enforcement" for Caucasus countries, held in Karlsruhe, Germany. The
event was organized by the U.S. Department of State in collaboration with
the Institute of Transuranium Elements (Karlsruhe) and the International
Science and Technology Center (ISTC). Approximately 80 participants from 9
countries attended this workshop, including scientific delegations from STCU-Recipient
countries Azerbaijan and Georgia. |

STCU Roundtable Workshop on Technology Transfer in Chernivtsi in Ukraine
On 17 October, STCU held a round-table event,
"Commercialization of R&D, STCU Programs and Initiatives" at
the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Chernivtsi, Ukraine).
STCU DED (US) Vic Korsun and other STCU staff gave presentations on
technology transfer, patenting, IPR, and commercialization of science
research. Also presented was information on STCU supplemental programs that
help participating scientists in protecting and exploiting their research
results. It was one in the series of round-tables conducted earlier by STCU
in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv.
The Program of the workshop also included presentation about Chernivtsi National University innovation potential. |

Potency. A technological opportunity exists to fight this new form of
malaria. The parasite that causes the deadliest form of malaria is showing
the first signs of resistance to the best new drug against it -- combination
treatments using artemisinin, an antimalaria drug extracted from a plant
used in traditional Chinese medicine, have been hailed in recent years as
the biggest hope for eradicating malaria from Africa, where more than 2,000
