STCU ROUND-TABLE ON COMMERCIALIZATION OF R&D RESULTS

On 5-7 February 2008, STCU organized three Round Table meetings, titled “Commercialization of R&D Results: STCU Programs and Initiatives”, held in Kharkiv, Ukraine and involving nearly 100 scientists from 3 local organizations.
These Round Tables, led by STCU Deputy Executive Director Vic Korsun, had three main objectives:
- To inform regional scientists about the opportunities the STCU can offer in the frame of partnership, patent support and training programs;
- To discuss the most important issues of technology transfer and commercialization of R&D results;
- To collect feedback on effectiveness of the STCU Programs.
During the Round Tables, DED Korsun presented "CTCO: Chief Technology Commercialization Officer in Ukraine or Technology Transfer & Commercialization in Ukraine through International Cooperation" ; STCU Non-Governmental Partner Manager Peter Melnik Melnikov presented the STCU Partnership Program; STCU Patents Officer Oleg Zalozhenkov described the STCU patent support process,; and STCU Training Officer Elvira Sharma demonstrated new multimedia educational programs for scientists.
In addition, scientists from two Kharkiv institutes (the Institute of Single Crystals and the National University of Aviation) talked about their achievements and barriers in technology commercialization
