STCU Plays a Key Role in Advancing CBRN Medical Preparedness and Response in the SEEE Region
410/48905 Dec 2023
In the context of the EU CBRN CoE P88 Project, aimed at strengthening CBRN Medical Preparedness and Response Capabilities in South East and Eastern European (SEEE) countries, the Science and Technology Centre in Ukraine (STCU) has actively contributed to two significant events held in Oslo from November 27 to December 1, 2023.
1. Study Visit to CBRNE-Seminar:
STCU organized a study visit to the CBRNE seminar for physicians, health & preparedness personnel, and first responders, which took place from November 27 to November 29, 2023. Hosted by the Norwegian National Unit for CBRNE Medicine at Oslo University Hospital, the seminar provided a platform for representatives from 9 SEEE countries and P88 experts to exchange knowledge and insights on CBRN medical preparedness and response.
2. P88 Regional Exercise Planning Meeting:
From November 30 to December 1, STCU hosted the P88 regional exercise planning meeting at Radisson Oslo. During this meeting, participants collaboratively formed the exercise management team, laying the groundwork for the development of future regional exercise scenarios focusing on CBRN medical preparedness and response.
P88 Upcoming Initiatives:
Looking ahead to 2024-2025, STCU plans to organize four regional exercises, addressing chemical, biological, radiological/nuclear scenarios for first-line medical and paramedical responders and second-line hospital emergency staff. A tabletop exercise (TTX) is also slated for high-level emergency medical managers.
STCU's involvement in these events underscores its commitment to fostering regional collaboration, sharing expertise, and enhancing the capabilities of medical responders in the face of CBRN threats.
