The 15-th Medical Biodefense Conference

On 26-29 April, 2016 the 15-th Medical Biodefense Conference was held in Munich, Germany at the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology. The meeting was organized by the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology in cooperation with the German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy and joined more than 500 participants from about 50 countries.
The Medical Biodefense Conference is unique in its focus on such CBRN risks mitigation area like medical aspects of biodefense. The Conference became a venue for audience that was highly interested in the latest research findings and products in diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases caused by highly dangerous infectious agents. The scientific program of the meeting covered the most urgent agent-related topics such as “Post Ebola:Lessons Learned” as well as sessions of cross-sectional interest like “Genome Analysis and Bioforensics”, “Mobile Bio-Reconnaissance” or “Diagnostics”. The German Partnership Program for Excellence in Biological and Health Security supported organization of special “Biosecurity Lounge” in the framework of the Conference that was special place for scientific exchange, networking and informal meetings of the specialists from around the world.
The Ukrainian delegation at the 15-th Medical Biodefense Conference contained the group of experts from the NSC “Institute for Clinical and Experimental Veterinary Medicine” leaded by the Institute Director Prof. Boris Stegniy and STCU Bio-specialist Dr. Vlada Pashynska. The successful negotiations about establishment of the cooperation between Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology and NSC “Institute for Clinical and Experimental Veterinary Medicine” took place in the framework of the forum.
