STCU Holds Workshop on Commercialization of Biotechnologies

The STCU in collaboration with the Institute of Biocolloidal Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine arranged a one day workshop entitled Best Practices in the Commercialization of Biotechnologies: Looking into the Technological Future and Sustainable Development. The event brought together over 50 participants including officials from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), scientists, scientific and legal (IPR) experts and directors of bio-chem institutes. The event was held at the Great Conference Hall of the NASU (55 Volodymyrska St.) on April,16, 2004. The topics covered issues dealing with the identification of priorities for collaboration in the field of biotechnologies, best practices and legal conditions for the creation of joint bio-laboratories, and presentation of experiences in the field of commercialization of the results of biotechnological research. A roundtable interactive discussion with the various experts enriched the discussion during the entire workshop time. Participants identified fields of cooperation in the bio-sector based on national research priorities.
