Visit to People's Democratic Republic of Algeria by Azerbaijan Regional Officer of STCU, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Gulam Babayev within the delegation of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) headed by President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh

On the 27-30th of November, 2017 Azerbaijan Regional Officer of Science Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU), Assoc. Prof., Dr. Gulam Babayev visited the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria within the delegation of Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (ANAS) headed by President, academician Akif Alizadeh. The purpose of the visit was to establish the cooperation between Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Algerian Academy of Science and Technology (AAST) by signing the Memorandum of Understanding which will allow a mutual cooperation in priority scientific directions in the field of exploration of oil and gas fields, seismology, research of ancient manuscripts, history, archeology, physics, chemistry, information technology, mathematics and a number of other fields of science. During the visit, Prime Minister of the Algeria Ahmed Ouyahia received President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh in his residence. The meeting was attended by the President of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology, Mrs. Malika Allab-Yaker, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mr. Tahar Hajar, Rector Mr. Saidi Mohammed and professors of the University of Science and Technology.
During the meeting, academician Akif Alizadeh informed the Prime Minister about the policy of the Azerbaijani state in the field of science, education and high technologies, spoke about the history of the formation and activities in the academy, the history of cooperation of Azerbaijani geologists and oil workers in the production and exploration of oil and gas fields in Algeria during the former Soviet time. He discussed opportunities and prospects for bilateral relations, as well as cooperation within the framework of the programs of the European Union, Erasmus, Horizon-2020, within the Target Initiative (TI) grant projects of Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) and other international mega-projects.
During the meeting with professors of the University of Science and Technology, Mr. Gulam Babayev informed about the cooperation of ANAS and STCU, STCU overview, existing STCU projects, and implementation of projects in Azerbaijan, expressed satisfaction with the deepening of cooperation between ANAS and STCU and also pointed out about the future development. ANAS delegation also visited Center for High Technology Development and Paraseismic Research Laboratory of Algeria.
At the ceremony of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Algerian Academy of Science and Technology, academician Akif Alizadeh informed the participants of the ceremony about the reforms, activities in scientific organizations and priorities of the Academy, the role of the government in the development of science in Azerbaijan, answered numerous questions from the audience.
