Know Your Customer for Emerging Biotechnologies

On 16-17 November, the conference “Know Your Customer for Emerging Biotechnologies” took place virtually. This event was organized by health Security Partners, a non-profit international development organization dedicated to building local capacity to improve health security around the world, from the US.
The presentations dealt with understanding the situation of the life sciences, particularly the biotechnology sector. Presentations about Life Science Research and Innovation; Business Security Risk Assessment; Hybrid Threats in the Biotechnology Sector Security Briefing; Industry Strategies and Approaches for Biotechnology Supply Chain Security; and Small/Medium Enterprises Risk Management: Know-Your-Customer in Practice.
Under the latest point mentioned above, the Targeted Initiative (TI) on CBRN Export Control on Dual-Use Materials and Intangible Technologies in GUAM Countries was presented. During the panel discussions, the conceptual framework of the TI was considered, and the experts agreed on its relevance and innovative approach, particularly when it comes to working with the scientific community and university students at different levels.
