Countering Nuclear Energy Disinformation Fellowship Program

The Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (the STCU) is pleased to announce a grant opportunity to support Countering Nuclear Energy Disinformation Fellowship Program and external educational outreach by Ukrainian nuclear experts to the nuclear community in Eastern Europe and other former Soviet countries, as well as potential nuclear energy newcomers in the Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America to discuss the challenges related to nuclear safety and security in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with particular emphasis on Russia's egregious acts at Chornobyl & Zaporizhzhye and related topics. Fellowships may also be awarded for targeted efforts to expose the negative technical aspects of relying on Russian nuclear reactor suppliers for countries that are considering the purchase of Russian civil nuclear reactors. Fellowships may also be awarded to engage third country nuclear communities (virtually or in-person) to debunk Russian nuclear energy-related disinformation targeting Westinghouse as a supplier of VVER nuclear fuel to Ukraine and other East European countries.
Fellowship Program will support efforts to identify Russian disinformation operations including websites, networked accounts on social media platforms, hosting services, and advertising agencies that enable purveyors of Russian disinformation to operate and generate revenue. Grants may also support the development of technical solutions for identifying and countering Russian disinformation operations.
Eligibility:
Individuals with strong past performance conducting research, training, and other activities on countering disinformation are eligible to apply.
Grants will be issued to individuals or teams of individuals and institutions.
Grant recipients must be nationals of Ukraine.
Applications must be submitted in English language.
Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until June 30, 2022.
