SAC Meeting on Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases

On September 14-15, 2015 the SAC Meeting on Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases was organized in Foundation Merieux Les Pensieres Conference Center, Annecy, France by French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) and the Foundation Merieux. More than 60 scientists and specialists from National Laboratories, Institutions and Universities, Governmental and International Agencies (WHO) from different countries of the West and East Europe, and Asia attended the event. The Meeting was aimed to discussion of the most prior topics of the health care area, including the modern approaches in diagnostics and treatment of such dangerous infections like Ebola, MERS, AIDS, Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR TB), and to establishment of the new collaborative contacts between the West and East experts for elaboration of the joint R&D projects in the areas of infection diseases control, Biosafety&Biosecurity. The Meeting panel joined the world-known experts: Prof. Andre Syrota, former president of the INSERM, former president of French National Alliance for Life Sciences and Health; Prof. Jean-Francois Delfraissy, Director of the National Research Agency on AIDS and Viral Hepatitis and Director of the Institute of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases of French National Alliance for Life Sciences and Health; Mr. Alain Merieux, President of the Foundation Merieux and others.
The STCU delegation leaded by the STCU Bio- Senior Specialist Dr. Vlada Pashynska consisted of 11 participants and included the experienced specialists as well as young scientists from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. A number of advanced experts such as Prof. V. Zadorozhna, Director of L.V.Gromashevsky Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases of NAMS of Ukraine; Prof. B. Stegniy, Director of the NSC "Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine"; Prof. N. Vynograd from Danylo Halytskiy Lviv National Medical University (Ukraine); Dr. Luminita Gutu from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "N.Testemitanu" (Moldova) and Dr. S. Gurbanov, the State Scientific Control Institute for Veterinary Preparations of Azerbaijan, have been invited by the Meeting Scientific Committee to present the results of their Institutions investigations in the area.
The Meeting scientific program was divided into three thematic sessions: (i) Emerging Infectious Diseases: a continuous and global threat, (ii) Hepatitis B(HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) and (iii) Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis. The each of the Sessions was summarized by the final discussion that provided the opportunity to determine the problems which are common for majority of the countries presented (highly pathogenic zoonotic diseases, chronic infections with HBV and HCV, MDR-TB, etc.) and to lay down a program of the cooperative countermeasures. The Meeting participants recognized the society challenges regarding the threats of the Emerging and Reemerging diseases and the necessity of the collaborative multi-disciplinary (human and veterinary medicine) efforts to mitigate the risks of the infections spreading.
The final ISTC-STCU Round table of the Meeting was devoted to discussion of the further Biosafety&Biosecurity Targeted Initiative of implementation of collaborative R&D projects in the area of
