STCU participated in “Awareness Raising and Education on Biosafety and Biosecurity in Ukraine” workshop

The international meeting “Awareness Raising and Education on Biosafety and Biosecurity in Ukraine” organized in the framework of the STCU project P633 funded by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom was successfully held on 4-6 October, 2014 in Kiev, Ukraine.

The STCU Executive Director Mr. Curtis Bjelajac welcomed the participants of the meeting that was first in a chain of international conferences and regional seminars within project P633 aimed at creation of the network of National Life Science Experts and distribution of the best foreign experience in education on Biosafety and Biosecurity among the Ukrainian specialists.



During the plenary lecture, Academician Serhiy Komisarenko, the Head of the Organizing Committee overviewed the “Biosafety and Biosecurity in Ukraine. Problems and tasks”. The meeting joined more than 50 participants including Prof. Vladimir Zaviyalov (Finland), Prof. Georgy Kvesitadze (Georgia), Ms. Tatyana Novossiolova (UK), Prof. Borys Stegniy (Ukraine), Prof. Anatoly Golovko (Ukraine), Prof. Yurii Kundiev (Ukraine) and other experts.

During the Round-table devoted to different aspects of the education and training on Biosafety, Biosecurity and Bioethics participants discussed problematic areas and developed the Action Plan that will be implemented within STCU project P633 (STCU project coordinator, Dr. V. Pashynska).
